New image of BlackBerry KEYone sequel surfaces; phone to be named KEY2?

After months of hearing practically nothing about the sequel for the BlackBerry KEYone, information about the phone is pouring out. First, some accessories for the KEYone sequel were posted last month on the website of accessories provider Skinami. Then, some renders of the device surfaced earlier this month, followed by photos posted by Chinese regulator TENAA. Tonight, we have some more goodies to share with you about the BBF100-4, aka the BlackBerry KEYone sequel.

One image comes from weibo, and is in the form of a split screen photograph covered with cute stickers. The picture on the left seems to be a close up of another photo of the sequel that was published without stickers. The "clean" photo is on the right. The screen is covered with a protective wrap, there are no frets on the physical keyboard (unlike the original model), the keys are not glossy (again, unlike the original) and there is a "NOT FOR SALE" warning on the bottom of the device.

The image on the right of the split screen photo is the most important one even if it doesn't show the phone. That's because it was apparently snapped using the camera on the KEYone sequel, and it tells us that the name of the handset will be the BlackBerry KEY2.

The latest buzz calls for a June release, and there is speculation that the phone will be powered by a Snapdragon 660 mobile platform, include 6GB of RAM and come out of the box with Android Oreo pre-installed. The photo of the back of the phone that was posted by TENAA shows that there is a dual camera setup on the back, a first for a BlackBerry branded handset.
