AT&T slashes $1,200 off the iPhone 18 Pro, cracked or not, plus four more deals

The trade-in terms are unusually generous, but the fine print decides who really qualifies.

Apple announced the iPhone 18 Pro, the iPhone 18 Pro Max and the foldable iPhone Duo on September 9, with pre-orders for the two Pro models officially opening Saturday morning. Like clockwork, the carrier offers are also arriving right on schedule.

However, the number AT&T clearly wants everyone to see is $1,200. That is the maximum discount on the new iPhone 18 Pro, and it is open to both new and existing customers who trade in an iPhone in any condition, which is unusually forgiving language for a carrier promotion.

What AT&T is putting on the table

Here is everything AT&T is running for the launch, as per its press release:

  • Up to $1,200 off the iPhone 18 Pro for new and existing customers, paid out as bill credits over 36 months, in exchange for an iPhone trade-in in any condition
  • Up to $800 in reward card credit for switchers, covering whatever is still owed on a phone at another carrier
  • $200 off per line for ordering online, which stacks on top of the trade-in credit
  • An automatic bill credit and an Apple notification whenever the network goes down, which AT&T says only its iPhone 18 customers will get
  • Unlimited Your Way plans, so each line on an account can sit on a different tier instead of everyone paying for the same one

What works in your favor

The any-condition wording is doing most of the work here. Trade-in promotions usually dock you for a cracked screen or a tired battery, so taking that variable off the table helps anyone still carrying a phone in rough shape.

Existing customers getting the same headline number as switchers is also worth noting, since carriers often reserve their best pricing for people walking in from a rival network.

The conditions worth reading before Saturday

The footnotes tighten things considerably. What the full $1,200 actually requires:

  • A trade-in of an iPhone 14 or newer, with the iPhone 16e specifically excluded, or any eligible smartphone worth at least $180
  • Activation on the AT&T Premium 2.0 plan, which starts at $100 a month before taxes and fees
  • A 36-month installment plan, since none of this comes off at checkout
  • A $35 activation or upgrade fee

That plan requirement is the part I would flag hardest. Cancel partway through and the credits stop while the remaining device balance comes due, which is standard for carrier promotions but easy to forget behind a number this large.

What stands out about all this

The outage perk is the genuinely unusual one. It covers wireless downtime of 60 minutes or longer caused by a single incident affecting eight or more towers, so it will not trigger often, but being told you are owed money instead of having to go find out yourself is a real improvement.

It is also worth putting this next to what T-Mobile is offering on the same phones, because the two carriers are pulling in fairly different directions this year. I am assuming these terms will keep shifting through launch week, so I would not treat Saturday's version as final.
