Apple's new foldable phone elicits screams on the Red Carpet
Apple CEO John Ternus just happened to have an iPhone Duo in his tuxedo pocket.

It must be nice to be John Ternus, and I'm not even thinking about all those zeroes to the right of the first comma on his paycheck. Imagine being able to call someone inside the company and request an iPhone Duo be brought up to your office immediately. Now that is the kind of perk I can get into.

Apple's new CEO made an appearance on the red carpet at the Peacock Theater in Los Angeles yesterday and he happened to bring the new iPhone Duo with him. Ternus asked a reporter from Deadline named Antonia Blyth if she wanted to see the first foldable iPhone, and took it out of his tuxedo jacket. When Deadline's Antonia Blyth saw the Duo, which the Apple executive opened and then closed before putting it back in his pocket, she let out a little squeal of delight as you can see from the embedded video.
Former CEO Tim Cook was caught a couple of times carrying an unreleased iPhone model
This was not the first time that an Apple CEO carried around an unreleased iPhone. On January 9th, 2007, after unveiling the iPhone at Macworld, Steve Jobs told a reporter that since the device had been introduced to the public, he would start carrying it around with him.
Tim Cook twice, as far as we know, carried an un released iPhone unit in his pocket. One time, in August 2017, Cook, who was then Apple CEO, was photographed with the outline of an iPhone 8 in his pants pocket. The measurement of the pocket bulge was too tall to be an iPhone 7 and too narrow to be an iPhone 8 Plus.

Cook was also the subject of a Q&A session at Oxford and as he relaxed in a chair, an iPhone X slowly made its way out of Cook's pocket. We were able to determine that the device was the iPhone X by the vertically-mounted dual-camera setup seen on the phone that was slipping out of Cook's pocket.
Some possible reasons why the Duo's screen was so dark in the red carpet video
The internet had some negative comments about the first foldable iPhone's internal display, which could hardly be seen in the video. That could be due to the lighting on the red carpet; the area is brightly lit to allow the movie stars to be filmed with enough light. Another possibility is that Ternus had the settings for the Duo's display set on low.
Remember, this was not a promotional event set up by Apple in advance so the CEO did not make sure to set his internal display accordingly. And while we can't stop thinking that Apple missed out on a golden opportunity to promote the iPhone Duo and the nearly invisible crease (instead, Apple showed off the nearly invisible screen), the response by Deadline's Antonia Blyth when Ternus opened the Duo's internal display is a good example of what many are feeling about the phone.
Pre-orders for the foldable iPhone Duo will start in the middle of October
Pre-orders for the iPhone Duo will begin on Friday, October 16 and the foldable will be released on October 23. The phone is priced at $1,999.99. Color options include Star White and Night Sky.
While the introduction of the iPhone Duo honestly felt as though the iPhone line had received a shot in thy arm, initial pre-order figures for the iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max didn't agree with that assessment.
