Xiaomi to add iPhone X-like "full display gestures" to Mi MIX and Redmi 5 series phones
Xiaomi is testing new gesture controls for some of its smartphone models. The so-called "full display gestures" have been included in the latest beta build of MIUI 9, the company's custom Android-based firmware.
Swiping up from the bottom of the display will get you to the home screen. Add a short pause to the same motion and you'll activate the "Recents" screen. Lastly, swiping from the left or right of the screen to the middle will return you to a previous page.
It looks like Xiaomi has drawn inspiration from Apple, as Cupertino implemented similar gesture controls on the iPhone X in order to compensate for the removal of the home button.
The full display gestures will be first introduced to the all-screen Xiaomi Mi MIX and Mi MIX 2 models as well as the Redmi 5 and Redmi 5 Plus handsets.
