Turn-based strategy game Mordheim: Warband Skirmish brings tabletop gaming to mobiles

It's perfectly fine to not know anything about the Warhammer universe, but if turn-based strategy games are your cup of tea, then you shouldn't skip Mordheim: Warband Skirmish.

Developed by Legendary Games, Mordheim: Warband Skirmish is an adaptation of Games Workshop's classic tabletop game with the same name, Mordheim, which is set in the Warhammer universe.

The premise is pretty simple: you'll run a warband of units and collect Wyrdstone, a valuable resource that dropped from a comet that destroyed the Mordheim city. Initially, the game features three factions: Reiklanders, Middenheimers, and Marienburgers.

Unfortunately, you will start with just one warband, as the other two are hidden under a paywall. The developer confirmed that additional factions will be made available as DLCs, including Skaven, Sisters of Sigmar, Witch Hunters, Cult of the Possessed, and Undead.

Another aspect that could be a deal breaker for many players is the fact the Mordheim: Warband Skirmish is purely a multiplayer game. No campaign or story mode has been added to the game, which means you will continuously fight other players' warbands while trying to upgrade your units and unlock more factions.

Mordheim: Warband Skirmish is free to play on Android devices, but iOS users will have to pay $3.99 to play the game. Both versions come with in-app purchases that allow players to recruit new units, customize and train their warbands, as well as unlock new factions.
