Toca Hair Salon is the free iOS app of the week

Once again, it is time for the free iOS app of the week. This week's app is Toca Hair Salon. Designed for those 3 and up (adults are said to find it addictive), users get to "Cut, color, comb and blow-dry life-like hair on six different cute characters." Players can use their fingers to create any hair style, and will have access to tools like scissors and trimmers to cut hair. The salon customers have a total of 12 different hair colors.

And if they don't like the way you cut their hair, the characters can have all of it grow right back using a formula called G.R.O. So even if you give Larry the Lion a bad hair cut, he won't devour you because you can grow his hair back right away. The other salon customers include Harry (the red-head), Berry (the bear), Mary (pink hair), Rita (from Helicopter Taxi), and Fuzz (the dog).

There are no ads to distract players, no high scores to chase, and in fact this is about as non-competitive as a mobile game gets. And the good news is that those with Android can play a variant of the game called Toca Hair Salon-Me that allows users to pick the salon customers from pictures in their camera roll. This way, players can cut their own hair or those of friends and family. Android users will have to shell out $2.99 for the game.
