Samsung Galaxy S7 and S7 edge will be updated directly to Android 7.1.1 Nougat

Samsung already has a Beta Program that allows select Galaxy S7 and S7 edge owners to test Android Nougat on their devices, but the company has yet to reveal a date for when the update will be rolled out to everyone. Until that happens, we're glad to inform you that, although the Beta Program is currently based on Android 7.0 Nougat, the official update will bring the newer Android 7.1.1 Nougat to the S7 series. This kind of makes sense, as 7.1.1 Nougat was officially released earlier this month for Google Pixel and Nexus devices.

As you can see in the screenshot on the left, Samsung has seemingly confirmed to Beta participants that Android 7.1.1 will be included in the official Nougat update. Unfortunately, it looks like the update will not be rolling out before the end of the year (or at least not for Verizon's Galaxy S7 and S7 edge).

Here are some of the new features that Android Nougat will bring to the Galaxy S7 family. Interestingly, once the Nougat update takes over your S7 and S7 edge, Samsung's famous TouchWiz will be officially renamed to Samsung Experience. That's the end of an era, right?
