The iconic gadgets and events get all the attention, and few enjoy the spotlight like Apple’s iPhone. Through all the rants and raves garnered via all sorts of reviews, a new genre of gadget activity has emerged, the destruction of said gadgets.

Earlier this week, the crew at RatedRR concluded a week of various forms of torture of the new iPhone 6 Plus, the grand finale of which was Richard Ryan donning his wingsuit, going for a skydive, and releasing the iPhone mid-flight.

We already saw the finished and edited production, but we did not get to see what it looked like from the iPhone’s point of view, as it was video recording the whole time. The video file is 30-minutes long, but it is only the first three-and-a-half minutes you need to watch because after impact, the video goes black while the unit continues to record, awaiting reclamation from the RatedRR crew.

The video action is anything but smooth, but the spinning perspective provides a very strange and engaging view of the world as it grows larger in the horizon, and the ground looms closer in what feels like a protracted descent to the inevitable.
