New Samsung Galaxy Edge phones may use LG components

The Chosunn Ilbo reports that Samsung is eyeing a certain "2 metal chip-on film" made by LG Innotek (one of LG's main subsidiaries which directly competes with Samsung Electro-Mechanics). This LG component is used to connect display panels to main circuit boards, and it's said that it's the only one that can be folded, which makes it ideal for Samsung's curved displays. LG plans to begin mass producing its 2 metal chip-on film in the second half of 2016, so Samsung Galaxy Edge (and maybe Note) smartphones from 2017 could certainly use it.
The Chosunn Ilbo notes that Lee Jae-yong, Samsung's current chairman, wants the company's devices to use the best components, regardless of their maker. As long as the end products are better, we as users won't mind, right?
