NTT DoCoMo summer portfolio is high-tech as usual, brings a new Sony Xperia A

NTT DoCoMo just unveiled its summer portfolio of phones and tablets, and, as usual, there are some drool-worthy slates and handsets that will never see the light of day outside of Japan.

First off, we get a brand new Sony Xperia A, but don't jump from the chair yet, as it seems to be a mid-ranger, or what passes for mid-ranger this year - 4.6" 720x1280 pixels LCD, a 1.5 GHz quad-core Snapdragon S4 Pro, 13 MP rear camera and 0.3 MP frontal shooter, 2300 mAh battery, and Android 4.1 running the whole show. There's the obligatory LTE connectivity, and a firmware update later on will bring support for the NOTTV standard.

Sony Xperia A for NTT DoCoMo

Apart from the Xperia A, a few other devices caught our attention, Sharp's Aquos Phone Zeta and the Aquos Pad chief among them, as they sport the company's novel IGZO displays that are rumored to land in Apple and even Samsung products later on, bringing with them even thinner devices with greater battery endurance. The Zeta sports a 4.8-incher with Full HD resolution, while the tablet is with a 7", panel, which is the first smaller tablet with nearly Full HD 1920x1200 pixels of resolution.

Panasonic also outed a 4.7" Full HD Eluga, Fujitsu chipped in with the intriguing 5.2" Full HD Arrows NX, while they also supplied a Disney Mobile handset with an HD 4.7-incher. Of note is that everything in the lineup will be running Android 4.2 upon release, save for Sony's Xperia A warrior.
