First Tizen tablet looking mighty, is aimed at developers

Back in July, we first reported on a story involving a Japanese Systena-made tablet that ran on an early prototype version of Tizen OS. The Intel- and Samsung-backed platform has been in development for a while now, and various snippets of information are pointing towards an official outing not too long from today, granted that everything goes according to plan.

Speaking of things going according to plan, we noted back then that the Tizen-powered tab is headed for Japan's Smartphone & Mobile Expo, which took place, surprise-surprise, yesterday, and is still going strong today. The unnamed Systena tablet runs on Tizen 2.1, and is specifically built to cater to developers that are intending or at least considering to build for the new OS. That's crucial, as you may have come to realize, since a platform, no matter its functionality and level of sophistication, simply won't make it unless it can offer a rich app ecosystem.

Anyway, turning to the hardware at hand, the tab is actually quite an offering in its own right – it packs a 10.1-inch WUXGA display (1920x1200), which is powered by a unspecified 1.4GHz quad-core ARM Cortex-A9 based chipset and 2GB of RAM. No pricing details have been given for this admittedly good-looking tablet.
