Barnes & Noble launches the NOOK Tablet 7'' with Android 6.0 Marshmallow, $50 price tag

Looking for a cheap e-reader with Android functionality on top? Barnes & Noble can deliver thank to the newly introduced NOOK Tablet 7'', which is said to provide the best of both worlds.

The new NOOK Tablet 7'' costs just $49.99 and will be available for purchase in the United Sates starting on Black Friday, November 25. It can be ordered at Barnes & Noble stores across the country and online.

As the name suggests the NOOK tablet comes with a 7-inch IPS display that supports 1024 x 600 pixels resolution (171ppi). The tablet might seem modest specs-wise, but its purpose isn't meant to look impressive anyway.

Although Barnes & Noble does not mention what kind of chipset is embedded inside its tablet, previous rumors indicate that the tablet could packs a quad-core MediaTek MT8163 processor. No word on the RAM amount though.

However, we do know that the NOOK Tablet 7'' comes with 8GB of onboard storage (expandable up to 128GB via microSD card). There's also a 5-megapixel camera on the back side for those who want to take pictures as well. Selfie lovers can take pictures too, thanks to the 2-megapixel front-facing camera.

Also, the 3,000 mAh battery inside Barnes & Noble's tablet should provide up to 7 hours of reading, watching videos and web browsing. Connectivity-wise, the 7-inch slate includes Wi-Fi, Blueototh, microUSB 2.0 and 3.5mm audio jack.

It's also worth noting that the NOOK Tablet 7'' ships with Android 6.0 Marshmallow right out of the box, and offers access to Google Play store and, naturally, B&N Readouts.
