Even though its event was overshadowed by Apple’s official unveiling of the iPad mini, Asus managed to put on a fantastic show of its own in the Big Apple. Anticipating the official launch of Microsoft’s new platform, Windows 8, the venerable PC and tablet maker decided to unveil its upcoming lineup – and boy did they come out swinging with an impressive lineup!

Of course, we were introduced to a handful of full featured laptops, but when it comes to tablets, they showed off a couple at the event. Naturally, we had the opportunity of checking them both out. Starting off with the first offering, the Asus VivoTab is a fully equipped Windows 8 tablet that features an 11.6” Super IPS+ display with Corning’s Fit Glass, 1.8GHz Intel Atom Z2760 dual-core CPU, 2GB of RAM, 64GB of storage, 8-megapixel auto-focus camera with LED flash, 2-megapixel front-facing camera, 1080p video recording, 802.11 b/g/n Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.0, and NFC.

However, the unique thing about the Asus VivoTab is the fact that it provides the comforts of a traditional laptop thanks to the optional keyboard dock you can purchase – similar to what we’ve been seeing with its Android-based tablets. Not stopping there, it also features a very useful Wacom Digitizer Stylus to provide us all the comforts of jotting down notes and other things.
