Apple buying CDMA chips for Verizon branded iPhone?

According to insiders involved with the project, Apple has lined up millions of CDMA chips from Qualcomm in preparation for a CDMA version of the iPhone 4. The device, expected to be launched this January by Verizon, is expected to have the same design as the latest release except it will include internal insulation to prevent the decrease in signal seen when the unit is held in the infamous "death-grip". Production is expected to start this fall with a rollout of the phone in January 2011.
