Early on in the summer, we began to hear about this monster of a phone-tablet hybrid in the form of the Samsung Galaxy Q – a device rumored to be on the cutting with a massive 5.3” display. However, we’re actually being greeted with something that's far less enticing with the recently released handset in Canada.
Clearly, it’s far from anything spectacular, even more when it’s essentially Canada’s version of the messaging oriented Samsung Gravity SMART. Although it’s not quite the handset we envisioned from all of the speculations, the Samsung Galaxy Q is now available for purchase for $249.99 outright just north of the border courtesy of Rogers. Conversely, its $49.99 3-year contract looks a lot more pleasing, but then again, we’re reminded about the 3 years of commitment attached to it.
For the price, you’re getting a handset that features a 3.2” HVGA display, 3-megapixel camera, landscape style sliding keyboard, Android 2.2 Froyo, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, GPS, and a microSD card slot. Despite being on the complete opposite end of the spectrum than what was originally believed, basic users will probably find the handset akin to their needs.
Mint Mobile is now allowing you to get whichever plan you like for either three, six, or 12 months for just $15/mo. If you go for the six-month unlimited service, for instance, you'll now have to pay just $90 upfront instead of $210.
